The suit fit differently back then. It didn’t “accentuate” muscle as much as modern superhero suits, but whatever you did see was all him. I think it’s also easy to overlook how jacked he was because they didn’t have mandatory shirtless scenes back then.
The filmmakers thought he was too scrawny for the part, but he insisted and basically said he’d been doing plays and shit and had let himself get slim, but he was a jock and would have no problem bulking up.

Dude is jacked as shit. I swear the goofy old timey superman costume he had to wear did not do him justice.

He was trained by Darth Vader

thats a standing 135 overhead press….maybe even from a clean and jerk style lift. That ain’t no joke. He’s pretty strong.
The love and bond he and Robin Williams had, and the tragedy in both of their lives will forever make me cut onions just thinking about it
Would be considered a mid physique in most gyms now. Gymflation is real.
He was my first crush!
He made a movie about my cousin right before he died. She had the same kind of spinal injury as he did.
lowkey christopher reeve was putting in serious work fr

OG Kal-El !
Is my favorite Superman.
He looked great in that suit too.
Tragic what happened to him and his wife
One and only Superman.
I set up a tent for a party on his family’s property one summer after his accident.
The house was on a big hill and the (I’m guessing) master bed room looked down into the valley.
We’d see him up in the giant window in his chair.
His wife was an amazing woman.
The guys I worked with were literally ex convicts and carnies. We’re all sweating and dirty, all tatted up and she was super nice to us.
She got a bad deal… died from lung cancer I think at 44.
Was incredibly sad family story, they seemed like nice people.
Dude was pretty jacked. His Superman suit didn’t do him any justice lol.
Reeve & Cavill are the two best ever in my opinion. Hate to say it but Cavill takes the cake. The absolute prototype.
Used to sneak into swim in his pool in Fairhaven 😂
Did no one wear shoes while lifting barbells back then?Â
Nice delts
Just to note it’s absolutely insane how much Brandon Routh looked like him and how good casting for Superman has been.
Henry wasn’t bad, but Chris will always be my Superman.

I like to think the guy in the background has either never heard of Dan Marino, or he’s a Dolphins super fan. Either scenario is funny to me.
